New TV series for Kapamilya love teams KathNiel, LizQuen

Kapamilya fans have so much to look forward to in the coming year with the start of several TV series featuring their favorite stars and love teams.

The KathNiel fandom of sweethearts Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, for instance, will have their eyes glued on primetime TV again with the couple’s still untitled series to be shot in Mexico. This is KathNiel’s first TV project together since “La Luna Sangre”.

The LizQuen pair of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, meanwhile, will lead the romantic comedy series “Make It With You”, which will be filmed in Croatia. It will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, who also guided the two in the hit television series “Forevermore”.

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, on the other hand, will be featured in the series “Love Thy Woman”. Xian will be torn between step-sisters Kim and Yam Concepcion in the series.

Bea Alonzo, meanwhile, will be paired for the first time Richard Gutierrez in the series “Kahit Minsan Lang”. Gerald Anderson will also make a TV series comeback via the action-drama “A Soldier’s Heart”.

Even Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin Jr. couldn’t resist publicly praising and congratulating Kapuso actor Alden Richards, whose movie with Kapamilya Kathryn Bernardo, “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, just became the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.

Locsin, departed from his fiery tweets involving international and local issues, to praise on Twitter the good traits of Alden. Locsin engaged fans of Alden in a series of tweets and even promised to watch the hit Alden-Kathryn movie.

And in his tweet at around 11 a.m. on Friday (September 6), Locsin said: “Watching it this afternoon. I’m making time for this. I don’t care if war breaks out so long as it doesn’t interrupt the movie.”

Before that, Locsin said of Alden: “ “I came across him once. He was shy and modest. And look now at this. No one deserves it more.”

“Not often you see one who has it all but acts as humbly as though he hadn’t any of it; only other one like that is my idol Robin Padilla who has the well-merited self-confidence to make the fun of himself while having a great deal of fun at it.”

Last Tuesday, ABS-CBN announced that the Star Cinema-produced movie already grossed  P880,603,490 for its worldwide run, eclipsing the previous record set by the Kathryn-Daniel Padilla flick “The Hows of Us”.

As of 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday (August 28), the hashtag #ALDENxSeoulDramaAwards already had over 160,000 tweets.

The 27-year-old actor, whose movie with Kapamilya’s Kathryn Bernardo titled “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is well on track to become the top-grossing Filipino film of all time, received the Asian Star Prize.

The Twitter showed photos and videos of Alden at the gala night, from his red carpet walk and photo-op, to his speech on stage when he received his trophy and post-award message.

Alden said in his speech: “As a Filipino, I am very humbled and grateful to be recognized in the international scene, along with so many amazing and talented artists here tonight. This award is extra special because it comes at a time when we are celebrating 70 years of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea… It’s always our hope to make people happy and inspire them with our passion. Thank you.”

The “aldenrichards02” Instagram handle of Alden Richards, the Kapuso star who scaled even greater heights when he paired with Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernado, now has over 3 million followers.

The big rise in Alden’s IG followers is credited to his highly successful flick with Kathryn, “Hello, Love, Goodbye”,which is poised to become the highest grossing Filipino movie ever before it ends its worldwide cinema run.

Alden’s Twitter account @aldenrichards02, meanwhile, still has more social media trackers with over 5.4 million followers.

Still, Alden was so grateful with the new milestone reached by his IG handle, that he quipped “3M na tayo…I don’t love you.”

This is the iconic line of Alden’s character (Ethan) in the movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” The context of this line in the movie, of course, was the opposite. One of Ethan’s actual lines was: “Kaso gusto kita eh, so sorry, I don’t love you.” Before saying this, Ethan told Joy (Kathryn’s character) that when he doesn’t like a girl, he would already tell her “I love you”, to make her leave instantly.

Alden and Kathryn’s movie already exceeded the P800-million revenue mark before the August 24-26 long weekend in the Philippines (counting the August 26 holiday).

It now only trails “The Hows of Us” starring Kathryn and real-life boyfriend Daniel Padilla, which earned P915 million for its entire run, as the highest-grossing Philippine movie of all time.

With “Hello, Love, Goodbye” still being shown locally and internationally up to next month, it is now seen to become the first Filipino movie to hit the P1-billion mark in gross revenues.

Alden remains a contract star of GMA7, where he became a hit opposite Maine Mendoza for the “Eat Bulaga” pairing AlDub, which still has a cult following up to now. Alden’s next project with GMA7 is the primetime series “The Gift”, which is set to air in September.

“Hello, Love, Goodbye”

As of August 3, or after four days of showing, the Alden Richards-Kathryn Bernardo romantic movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye” has already raked in over P176 million in cinema receipts, Star Cinema announced.

The movie is now being shown in 465 cinemas nationwide, a record in the Philippine showbiz industry.

Star Cinema shouted on its official website: “Hello, Love, Goodbye has earned P176,637,000.05 after just four days in cinemas!

The Cathy Garcia-Molina film has officially taken the country by storm, touching the lives and hearts of millions. It tells the story of Joy (Kathryn Bernardo), a millennial OFW who met Ethan (Alden Richards), a Pinoy bartender in Hong Kong. It was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.”

It is now also on course of beating the all-time Philippine box office record of P900 million in gross earnings currently held by “The Hows Of Us”, which starred Kathryn and her boyfriend Daniel Padilla in 2018.

The strong showing of “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is being credited to the full support of the combined fandom of KathNiel, AlDub, GMA Kapuso and ABS-CBN Kapamilya, who braved the heavy rains caused by Hanging Habagat (southwest monsoon) just so they could see personally if the much-hyped on-screen chemistry between Kathryn and Alden is true. And they did not go home disappointed.

Entertainment columnists are now harping the possibility of another project of Alden and Star Cinema, with Bea Alonzo as the next leading lady.

Alden, himself, had said he wants to do a movie with Bea, and it seems Star Cinema will be granting his wish soon, especially with the good work ethic he displayed in the filming of “Hello, Love, Goodbye” even if he is from the rival network.
