PAGASA says Aparri, Tuguegarao and Echague may feel as hot as 47°C today, with many other Philippine areas also in the danger zone.
PAGASA is warning that parts of Northern Luzon could feel dangerously hot today, with the heat index forecast to hit 47°C in three areas.
According to The Philippine STAR, the state weather bureau said Aparri and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, as well as the Isabela State University station in Echague, Isabela, may reach the 47°C heat index mark. PAGASA also said Dagupan City in Pangasinan and San Jose in Occidental Mindoro could feel as hot as 45°C.
Several other areas are also expected to enter the danger zone. The report listed 44°C heat index readings at NAIA in Pasay, parts of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Aurora, Bulacan, Cavite, Palawan and Iloilo City.
More locations may see 42°C to 43°C heat index levels, including parts of Quezon City, Batanes, Cagayan, Pampanga, Quezon, Laguna, Palawan, Sorsogon and Eastern Samar. PAGASA classifies 42°C to 51°C as “danger,” a range where prolonged outdoor exposure can trigger heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
For workers, commuters and families heading out, the key warning is simple: limit sun exposure, hydrate often and watch for signs of heat stress. Source: The Philippine STAR
