SENATORS mounted on Tuesday an inquiry into the non-implementation of P450-million dairy projects earlier projected to improve dairy production and provide livelihood opportunities in farming communities.
Acting on Senate Resolution No. 504 directing an inquiry into the state of the dairy industry, Senator Cynthia Villar convened the Agriculture and Food Committee’s initial hearing Tuesday to review implementation of projects of the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) under the Department of Agriculture.
At the outset, Villar recalled that the NDA and the PCC have been in existence for 25 years and 28 years, respectively, and yet, she noted, “we continue to import more than 99 percent of our demand for dairy.”
