LTO boosts automated monitoring of drivers’ violations

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has improved the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) and the Driver Education Program (DEP) by using an online management system for efficient monitoring of violations and penalties in relation to the application for a driver’s license.

LTO said the online system, with the help of German technology firm Dermalog, will also determine the validity of motorists’ 10-year driver’s license.

“This will allow LTO to assess whether a motorist with a valid driver’s license is worthy of a 10-year-validity license. The proper education of drivers is also envisioned to improve driving habits …
