MANILA, Philippines — Deputy Speaker Paolo Duterte confirmed Thursday the resignation of seven of his congressional staff at the House of Representatives—one of whom being his chief of staff who was asked to resign by another lawmaker.

Duterte made the confirmation following reports that ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Eric Yap had asked the former’s chief of staff, Atty. Sherwin Castaeda, to resign, following alleged “mismanagement.”

It was Yap who recommended Castaeda to Duterte.

Duterte said aside from Castaeda, six other staff members also tendered their resignation.
