The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among Filipinos abroad has breached the 2,500 marks with the addition of 43 new confirmed cases, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported on Friday.

Of the total 2,504 cases, there are five new recoveries recorded in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, and two new deaths in the Middle East as well.

“The latest figures represent a global picture of countries in different stages of the COVID story where Europe and the Middle East still have the highest number of COVID-19 positive Filipinos, Asia and the Pacific has the fewest number of cases, while the Americas still has the highest number of fatalities,” the DFA explained in its latest report.
