‘No total nationwide lockdown’ — PSG

The Presidential Security Group (PSG) has denied issuing guidelines about a total nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis, as it pointed out that only the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases can issue such directives.


The PSG clarified online reports claiming that the government will be implementing a total lockdown from March 28 to April 15.

These same unverified reports claimed that the lockdown has been approved by President Duterte.  Based on the purported guidelines, all establishments including markets and banks will be closed down.
