Malacañang said President Duterte appointed former high-ranking military leaders in the country’s campaign against the COVID-19 because they can get the job done effectively.

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement after President Duterte designated Peace Process Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. as chief implementer of the national campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Galvez’s appointment came after Duterte named Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año as chair and vice-chair, respectively, of the National Action Plan to address the pandemic.
