Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya stressed on Friday that the 357 cops on the illegal drug watch-list remained innocent until proven otherwise.

DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya,

He issued the clarification after DILG Secretary Eduardo Año earlier admitted that controversial Police Lt. Colonel Jovie Espenido is among those included in the government’s drug watch-list.

Malaya pointed out the allegation against Espenido is still undergoing validation.

“Yes, that’s true and he will also undergo validation and possible investigation,” Año said earlier.

Short of proclaiming his innocence, Espendio said he leaves his fate up to God as he is now assigned in the Office of the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
