The Kapuso network is giving child singers the opportunity to be discovered right at their early years with the launch of a new weekly reality show and singing competition titled “Centerstage”, which will be hosted by phenomenal actor and singer Alden Richards.

The contest, to be aired over Channel 7 every Sunday starting February 16, is targeting children aged 7 to 12.

Alden said by taking GMA 7’s centerstage, kids will get the chance to show their talent and begin their journey as singers. “We want them to be inspired and motivated na even though hindi sila makuha sa contest na to this will not be the end, but the start of their journey as singers.”

The Philippines’ “Concert Queen” Pops Fernandez will lead the panel of judges, which also includes Aicelle Santos and Mel Villlena.

Alden said they will make sure the “Centerstage” will be fun and inspirational for the child contestants.

Alden’s own life and career can be a source of inspiration for children as well, as he rose from playing small roles to being the lead actor in the country’s highest grossing film of all time “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, opposite Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo.

ABS-CBN announced that Alden and Kathryn have been named “Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema” by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation on Friday (February 7) due to the success of their 2019 film.

Alden has also become one of the country’s top recording artists, with his award-winning Album “Wish I May” landing in the Top 32 of the Philippines Pop Chart and Top 58 of the Philippines All Genre Chart as of Friday.

He has also become one of the most sought-after models and product endorsers in the country, with his face all over the billboards and TV.

Alden said GMA’s musical reality show will also bring out the older brother in him. “Mas mahuhubog nila ‘yung pagiging kuya ko kasi mga bata ‘yung mga contestant natin.”
