Sandiganbayan acquits ex-DOF officials

The Sandiganbayan Second Division has acquitted three former Department of Finance (DOF) officials and a private individual of their graft charges involving the reportedly irregular approval of a tax credit application.

Former Deputy Executive Director Uldarico Andutan Jr., Officer-in-Charge Net Local Content Raul De Vera, Senior Tax Specialist Brandy Marzan, and R Transport Corporation official Rizalina Lamson were accused of violating Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

On Dec. 5, 1996, the accused officials and Antonio Belicena, former assistant secretary of the Revenue Operation Group of the DOF, were accused of approving the tax credit application of R Transport Corporation in connection with the purchase of 30 Hino bus
