DOLE to limit deployment of petrochemists overseas

Due to their reported shortage for employment in the local energy sector, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is eyeing to limit the deployment of petro chemists overseas.

“We want to limit the deployment outside the country of workers under the energy sector, specifically petro chemists,” DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in an interview.

Petrochemists belong to a specialty profession that deals with the chemical processes involved in turning the raw materials of crude oil and petroleum into useful products such as food, clothes, fertilizers, and plastics.

Aside from petrochemists, the labor department may also slow down the deployment of computer number controlled (CNC) machinists.
