Nograles: Postponement of Barangay, SK elections to enhance grassroots services

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles backed President Duterte’s decision to postpone the 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, saying this will allow local officials to fully serve their constituents and to finish what they started.

Nograles made the statement after the President signed into law on Tuesday Republic Act (RA) No. 11462, the measure postponing the local elections, which were originally scheduled on May 11, 2020, to December 5, 2022.

He said the new schedule of the local polls would give officials the “fullest opportunity” to serve their constituents and finish whatever projects they have started.
