Duque orders more tests on alleged vape patient

The Department of Health (DOH) said that they are still conducting further tests to fully validate if the first reported case of ‘electronic cigarette or vape-associated lung injury’ (EVALI) in the country is really due to the use of electronic cigarettes.

“Sa ngayon, probable case pa sya eh. Hindi sya absolute [As of now, it is still a probable case. It is not absolute],” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III in a radio interview  Saturday.

Duque said that he already instructed the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine to coordinate with the hospital where the patient was admitted.
