An electronic-waste (e-waste) collection event was held on Saturday in Barangay South Triangle in Quezon City to raise awareness on the environmentally sound management of broken or discarded electrical and electronic equipment.

Pressed with the calls for ecological conservation, the activity was done in collaboration with national environmental authorities.

The e-waste collection event was carried out under the auspices of the “Safe PCB and E-Waste Management Project” led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau  (DENR-EMB) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Among the items collected were unwanted TV sets with plastic casings and cathode ray tubes (CRTs), computers, laptops, appliances and assorted e-gadgets
