Veteran actor Aga Muhlach is emerging as the favorite to win the best actor award in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) for his portrayal of the mentally challenged father in the Philippine remake of Korean hit movie “Miracle in Cell No. 7”.
Viva Films released last November 12 a two-and-a-half minute teaser of the film, and immediately, experts are saying that Aga gave justice to the role originally played by Ryu Seung-ryong, who made many people cry in the original movie shown in 2013.
The teaser’s Youtube views already exceeded 1.56 million with over 7,700 comments as of November 14, making it also one of the most anticipated MMFF entries.
A comment by netizen Cybo D Rees said: “This is just a remake but this still can make me feel the goosebumps I felt last time.”
Even Broadway great Leah Salonga was reported to have cried after watching some of her friend’s scenes in the teaser.
Aga plays the lead role Joselito, while Xia Vigor portrays his daughter, young daughter Yesha. Bella Padilla plays the role of the grown up Yesha.
Portraying the roles of Joselito’s cellmates are Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo and Soliman Cruz.
